Cannot Access Internet? Utah Computer Repair – Lehi, Utah

I have often found that Mcafee or Norton Internet Security can cause people’s computers to no longer be able to access the Internet. After removing these products they are able to access the Internet. Sometimes you can go into Mcafee or Norton and changed the Internet Security features for the firewall features. Other times it just stops working even if you open it up. The only thing you can do is to remove it.

I’m very much surprised by how often these top of the line programs cause people’s computers to stop working. It can be a very hard thing to diagnose unless you have lots of experience at it. Today I am working on a computer that has this very problem. It would not access the Internet so I simply removed Mcafee security. After simply doing that one thing and rebooting I was able to get on the Internet. I replace Mcafee with AVG free antivirus and it works great now. Next time you’re having trouble getting on the Internet or accessing another computer on your network you might consider your firewall. There are some great free firewalls out there for instance zone alarm. I like zone alarm because it is very straightforward and it truly is free and it is not a trial version. When something new attempts to access your computer zone alarm will come up and ask a question. You can answer whether you want access to be granted or not and check the box so that I remember sure answer. I think that many times people want firewalls and they don’t really need them. Your router should have a firewall on it and windows has a firewall built into it also. If you have highly sensitive information on your computer and are truly worried about being accessed illegally you should have a firewall and a very good one.

If your computer will no longer access the Internet and you’re sure that you do not have an antivirus you probably have a problem with your firewall. You can run your antivirus and check for viruses and then you can uninstall your firewall and see if everything starts working.
