At times a virus can damage your OS (Operating System) to the extent that you need to backup and reformat your pc. This will make it like new but does not bring back all the programs you had loaded since it was new. Hence MS Office (Excel, Word, Office) and other programs will have to be reloaded from your disk after you get it back. Printers will have to be setup again also.
