If you have to replace the motherboard it may cost $100 to $150 for most motherboards. If you need to repair a laptop, they can get expensive. Motherboards start at $100 and generally run about $170 and more. Plus there is labor. Generally people are not backed up so the data has to be recovered also. More labor. You can buy new desktops and laptops for $500 and up generally. You can find bargains for less than that but not the higher end.
