Dishonesty in the PC Repair Trade

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009 admin

I am sick and tired of dishonest pc repair shops.   They are deceptive.  How you ask?  They offer free diagnostics or free virus scans.  I have been diagnosing computer problems for 20 years.   The only way for sure to know you have is fixed right is to repair it.   You have to get in and replace the part or do the reformat to know that it really is fixed.  These other guys just listen to your symptoms and hold it a little while then call you and tell you the price to fix it.  They also jack the price way up.  They have not diagnosed anything.  They have not even really looked at it.   If you agree to the high price they quote then they will spend some time working on it, knowing that they have a big pay out in the end.   Even if they told you the wrong diagnosis they have padded the bill enough to cover all posibilities.   They offer a free service that they really don’t do until you commit to pay their very high price.  That’s dishonest.  It makes it hard for honest shops because the clients ask why we won’t diagnose it for free like our competitors.   Our competitors are thieves.
