Don’t Buy Refurbished
Yesterday I spent 8 hours on a computer repair that was avoidable. The client had purchased a refurbished computer from Best Buy without know that it was a refurbished computer. Refurbished means it gave some one else problems and they returned it. Best Buy reboxed it and sold it again after looking at it. The client didn’t know it was refurbished until I told him about the sticker on the bottom of the computer.
This computer was repaired because it had a bad virus. The info on the drive as so important that we installed another hard drive into the case and installed windows and set it up. It was then that we put the old hard drive in the case and noticed the motherboard would not recognize any drives put into the 3rd and 4th SATA slots. The motherboard would not see it in CMOS or in windows. Additionally the computer would not boot but just hanged on every other reboot using two different hard drives.
Unfortunately this was a key computer to the client and it had hours of software installation and configuration that had to be redone as part of the computer repair. So don’t buy refurbished because you are buying someone else’s problems, and the vendors do not take much if any time to see about fixing it before selling it again.
